Fannie Mae announced today that it has launched its new consumer website, KnowYourOptions.com to educate homeowners about their options to avoid foreclosure and how to get help.

The purpose of this website is educate homeowners who may be facing foreclosure. It is a sad fact that many homeowners who are facing foreclosure don't know what resources may be available to them. This web site strives to offer homeowners a one-stop shop for easy to understand consumer friendly information on the range of options for avoiding foreclosure.

The website is designed to be a compliment to those web sites that many lenders may have in place for homeowners in default. The thought being that if homeowners see the same type information in two different websites from two credible sources, the lender and Fannie Mae, they may be more inclined to seek the assistance that is being offered to them.

The information is being offered in both English and Spanish and offers resources such as calculators, videos, a virtual assistant to walk homeowners through key areas of the site and helpful forms.

What I wonder though is how is Fannie Mae getting the word out to homeowners about this site?  I came upon this information as a result of an e-mail I received from Fannie Mae so I am assuming that other real estate professionals have also received this information, but I have not seen anything on my nightly news to indicate to me that the general public has been made aware of this useful resource. It's not enough for Fannie Mae to advise real estate professionals of this tool, they need to be more pro active in gettng the information out to the public.

Please share this link with all of your friends, family and clients who may be facing foreclosure.

Charlene, this is good information to share with agents and consumers. I intend to pass it on as well.
