How To Make Text In A Blog Become A Link To Another Website
kAREN...i KNOW THIS AND THANKS FOR SHARING....
That's a question I was asked by an AR newbie in the comment section of a post on an entirely different subject. Like many of you I write "how to" posts as a way of giving back to the AR community. It also sharpens the skills I use when responding to a client's question. Finally, since I contact the person directly, it's another opportunity to establish a relationship with an out-of-town REALTOR®
CHANGING A NAME OR WORD INTO A BLOG LINK
- There is a tool bar at the top of the blog WYSIWYG text box.
- Just to the right of center there is one chain link and one broken chain link. Note they are very light in color - that means they are inactive
- Type your first and last name in the text box.
- Place your mouse pointer in front of your name, hold it down and drag the pointer across your name to highlight it and release.
- Look at the toolbar - the two pieces of chain are now bright - you turned them on when you highlighted your name
- Click on the unbroken chain link
- A little window will pop up. 1. Enter the URL of your primary website. 2. Select Open link in new window 3. Enter a title - it will not show in the blog - it's search engine stuff. 4. Click Insert and the little window goes away, but it took your info with it
- The link will not work until you complete your blog and select Post Blog Entry.
NOW, WHAT ABOUT THE BROKEN PIECE OF CHAIN?
- The broken link of chain is attached to the unbroken link, but it is not used to make changes to an existing link
- Open the post in edit mode
- Place the mouse pointer in front of the link and highlight it as you did when you created the link
- Both chain links are now active
- Click on the unbroken link, the little window will pop up
- Change or correct a "broken" URL and click on Update
- Your changes will become effective as soon as you click on Post Blog Entry
