I turn fifty today!

No.  Wait.  I'm only 42 (which is old enough)!

But I think once I press the "Post Blog Entry" button at the bottom of my screen, I am going to have 50,000 Active Rain Points.

What's that mean?

Well, it's a lot, and it's not so much at the same time:

There are only five appraisers who have more points than I do, but there are only five real estate agents who have less.  Seriously, there are probably more than five, but among agents, 50k is not so much.

I guess the best thing about 50,000 points is that it is 50,000 more than I had at this time last year.  My 50,000 worth of posts has resulted in new contacts.  My 50,000 worth of posts has resulted in actual work.  And I don't even have a way to measure what my 50,000 worth have points has done for my search engine placement.

So ... Thank you, Active Rain--for the points, the work, the friends.  And look out for the day I turn 100!

Congratulations on making it to 50K.  I'm still pretty far behind you...must be one of those five real estate agents, but I'm trying to make up the ground inbetween as quickly as possible.  I want to see the search engine results too!

Rick, congratulations on reaching the 50,000 mark. I've been told the first 50 and 100,000 points are the hardest.

Rick-congratulations.  I pulled a fifty (the years old prank) on a co-worker when I turned 35.  They commented on my birthday and I said yes I think I look good for 50.  They stumbled & said wow you sure do....DUH.  Of course now that I am over 50 I try and lie and say I'm 35. Reverse isn't working as well.

Rick:

Congratulations!  I think we appraisers are in the minority on ActiveRain and other social media websites.  But I think a true community needs to have input from all of the parties. So keep posting.  As one of your subscribers I enjoy reading your posts and need the valuation insight that only you and other appraisers can provide.
