Gary Woltal wrote this post about how we are the only ones that can push ourselves to achieve.  No one else will be able to do it for us.  It is up to each and every individual to push themselves into action.

It is so true.  Read on:

Reluctant NudgeAchievement is a strange thing. You need to know

Why A Reluctant Nudge Will Help You Achieve.

What are people that are achieving things, accomplishing things, DOING, that you may need a boost on? They are in ACTION, plain and simple. But how do you get the ball rolling? PUSH IT!!

In real estate, want that designation? Want to prospect better for more clients? In life, want that weight loss, better fitness for yourself? Want to be financially independent however you decide that is? Have a great relationship with the one you love, or with children? Put the time in to HEADING that direction.

To ACHIEVE "PUSH" yourself in the direction of the goal.

It is hard to get that motor going sometime and ONLY YOU can crank it up. Self-motivation is truly that -- SELF. Motivational speakers can inspire you but not motivate you.

This reluctant nudge has to come from inside you, truly not from another. We are truly motivated by pain or pleasure. We procrastinate and DON'T do something cause we prefer our comfort zone over the pain we have to go through to get the accomplishment. When the pain is severe enough we get forced into action. But we can get into action PRIOR to severe pain just by DECISION. WANTING IT bad enough.

Two things in overcoming inaction, and giving you that gentle, albeit reluctant nudge:

  • Jump and the net will appear. Although you can't see all the way down the highway to the goal and all the future obstacles in your way, GO FOR IT. Get started. Don't overthink it. Don't wait for all the traffic lights to be green. You know some of them will be red anyway. What you don't know or can't cope with now will work itself out somehow. Resources and people will just magically appear as long as you head in a direction. NOTHING appears if you stand still other than moss growing under your feet.
  • Secondly PRACTICE. I cannot emphasize enough in pushing yourself in a direction, while uncomfortable, and just doing the new behavior over and over again each day, it will get easier. Like taking continuing education, prospecting for leads, exercising, or practicing music on the piano.

At some point you will step back and laugh and say this is not so hard.

Who knows if you start early enough in life you may just end up a world class gymnast.
