A Chocolate Extravaganza in Montreal - Juliette & Chocolat
Imagine walking into an adorable restaurant/cafe in Montreal, and being surrounded by an assortment of delectable chocolates, decadent desserts, mouthwatering crepes and sublime hot chocolate, made with real melted chocolate, like your grandmother may have made. This is exactly what happened on a recent trip to Montreal. All our senses screamed and cheered as we walked into Juliette & Chocolat. Not only did this cafe promise a feast of edible delights, but it also offered a feast for the eyes.
Juliette & Chocolat is an interior designer's dream. Located in a historical building on the corner of Prince-Arthur and Saint-Laurent, this restaurant boasts massively high ceilings, quaint light and airy walls and moldings, and brick walls, cleverly highlighted with wall sconces for accent lighting. The banquettes look like dark bars of chocolate, and one bench even has a corner with a "bite" taken out of it!
There are clever displays of brown and natural coloured vases and gourds with long curly sticks, which add interest and visual texture to the space, and create subtle barriers to divide the room. As a home stager, I couldn't help but be inspired by the clever organic arrangements and groupings.
Needless to say, the food was incredibly delicious, and although the service was rather slow, we were in no hurry to vacate, and on the contrary, were delighted to linger, taking in all the wonderful tastes, smells, sounds and sights.
On your next visit to Montreal, don't miss a visit to Juliette & Chocolat! Bon appetit!

Buckwheat crepe with grilled chicken, spinach & goat cheese.
The most amazing hazelnut gateau with mouse au chocolat inside, drizzled with milk chocolate.
A case full to the brim with delicate pastries and desserts. Note the large crown moldings, brick wall, wooden tables and cream coloured millwork.
Organic vases and sticks create a division between the large space, but also add visual interest with the visual textures.
Organic objets placed on cut out shelves. Note the "bite" (on the left) taken out of the "chocolate bar" banquette.
