This is one of a series titled Various official San Diego sources state that San Diego has the second largest population of military personnel in the free world, behind the Arlington/District of Columbia area. Some estimates put the total military population at 225,000. It's no surprise, then, that the various cities here in San Diego County like to honor the military personnel who live in their cities, and that brings us to Fleet Week San Diego (actually the whole month of September) and the Coronado Speed Festival. The 13th Annual Fleet Week Coronado Speed Festival takes place September 25 and 26. The parking lot opens at 7:30 a.m., gates open at 8:00 a.m., and races take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Coronado Speed Festival features vintage cars racing in various classes: The Coronado Speed Festival is also known as "The Race at the Base" since it takes place on Coronado Island, location of the North Island Naval Complex. The Naval Complex is where the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan, the U.S.S. Nimitz, and the U.S.S. Carl Vinson aircraft carriers are stationed, and it holds the official designation as the Birthplace of Naval Aviation. This is one of the few times when the public is allowed to tour the Naval Base. Tens of thousands of people show up for the Coronado Speed Festival, and tickets go fast, so log on to Fleet Week San Diego to buy tickets and get more information. ♫♪♫♫♪♫ If you're looking for a great real estate agent in San Diego, well, I'm available 24/7, so feel free to contact me by phone or email. I went a couple of years ago. It's kind of like the Long Beach Grand Prix. The car show itself is well worth going to.
I went two years ago because some friends were in town and wanted to go. We had a great time.
Thanks to everyone for stopping by and commenting.
I'm trying to follow up on these older posts like this one to see if anyone had any questions or if I really need to respond to anyone's comments.
I will read all the comments and respond to any that need a response, but rather than making comments here in my post to each and every one of you, I'll just let everyone know that I have read all the comments and if there are any questions, I'll answer those in comments below this one. Otherwise I'll simply post this comment and then head over to your blogs soon to visit and do some reading and commenting. I hope you'll have a nice welcome mat out for me!
Don't forget to let your cat come out to play with all the other ActiveRain kitties. Your cat-friendly dogs can come, too!
If you need a great cat book, get yourself a copy of Peg Silloway's The Cat Lover's Book of Days.
Best wishes to everyone for a great Fall!
