l... I have a new Baby! I just sold my 2005 dinghy racing boat and purchase a new one!
When you think of personal time and what you do with it...we all do different things. I have been sailing over 25 years now and racing for most of those years. It isn't much different than the golfer looking for the next putter or driver that will elevate his game.
The weekend kayaker wanting to see a new stream, river or shoreline. Or the fisherman looking for that catch of a lifetime.
Creating a garden and watching your efforts turn into delicious meals. Everyone looks at personal time differently
even taking without leaving your back porch by reading a book. That vacation that has been in the planning stages for months or years.
I race sailboats. Sometimes well and sometimes not so well. The issue is the people, water and the outdoors for me. I love being outside. I could not do a desk job...and be chained inside.
At this point in my life I have settled into one type of boat...a 16ft racing dinghy. It is 420 lbs of raging fun with a bit of atleticism thrown in for good measure. It keeps me in shape and helps me release some tension at the same time. Being a member of a local yacht club offer more than just racing it offers family fun. The link below offers families the opportunity to take adult sailing classes and their children can take sailing classes on a variety of boats.
