Forbes Creek Park, Kirkland Washington

Forbes Creek Park, Kirkland WashingonTucked away in the northern part of the Highlands, is Forbes Creek Park. It exists on two sides of the road, which is unusual. Traffic is really light at this end of the Highlands, so it is not as much of a hazard as you might think.

The park consists of 2.02 acres, and has grassy area, picnic tables, children’s play area, tennis courts and a basketball court.
Children's play area
On the upper side of the street is a great play toy area for kids of grade school age. We took our one and a half year old grandson, and he was happy to run around on the sidewalk, but the play set was designed for older children. Our four year old found it challenging, but could maneuver the different parts of the playset well. There are three slides good for early elementary age. I think 8 years old and up would not find it challenging or fun.
Swings
Off to one side of the play area at Forbes Creek Park are the swings. Like most Kirkland parks, the swings are commercial grade. Strong materials securely anchored with very sturdy seating areas. There are two swings that are designed so little kids can use them, as well as adults. Two other swings have sturdy baskets for infants or toddlers. They won’t fall out, and it gives them a safe feeling as they are being pushed.

Tennis courtsThis is a friendly, low key, neighborhood park. Not ostentatious, but useful and fun.

There are lots of tall trees on the upper part of the park, with grass underneath. Away from the play set area is a grassy field that would be good for running, but it is sloped sharply, so many running games or group ball games would not work.

On the lower side of the street are tennis courts and a basketball court. The two tennis courts are fully fenced. The basket ball court is open.
picnic table
A great place to bring your children, but also a great place for teens to adults to play tennis or basketball.
