A blog is forever . . Sometimes that’s a good thing

By

While working yesterday morning, my cell phone rang, and the caller had a most unusual request:   Are the chain saws still on sale? They asked.

What I asked, thinking I had not heard them properly?

Is this Schmidt's and Serafines they repeated?

I'm sorry you have the wrong number I replied.

It was definitely not a wrong number for me.

Last year as part of an ActiveRain Localism contest I had blogged about Schmidt's and Serafines, a local hardware store. I did get calls last year when I did the blog post, but I expected that as the blog was fresh. A year later, and that blog is still bringing people to my phone, even though I had put the stores' number in the post.

We should all try to maintain our relationship with the community we service with these Localism posts, as they demonstrate our expertise within our areas.

I know I will do more of them as they continue to work long after the post has been completed.

And, if you are looking for the contact information of Schmidt's & Serafines:

Hours of operation are Monday-Friday  8 am to 8 pm,  Saturday 8 am to 5 pm, Sunday 9 am to 2 pm.

 Their phone number is 203-754-5186.

The number for their power division is 203-754-5981.

Ed, that's so funny.  I had one of those calls this past weekend... someone calling about a local business I wrote about last year.  Kinda reminds me of the calls we used to get over marketing things we used to pass around our farms years ago, i.e.   "I can't find my jar-opener, could you give me another one?"  Haha...

It will be interesting in years to come how many calls will continue to pour in.  We must watch what we say.  I know I switched office recently and there are plenty of post out there with my old office info on them.  I also included my cell phone number for contact so they can find me.

Ed.. I'm laughing on this end.  I get similiar calls.. but for "Touch a Truck".  This is an annual fundraiser here in Cromwell.  When I don't know the exact dates and times for this years event, the person on the other end get annoyed.

Love it....too funny! But it does make the point to be careful what you say on the Internet, in your case....are they still on sale? I could use a good chain saw.

Connie, depending on the platform, they should be able to follow you.

Gerry, I'm sure the people at Schmidt's & Serafines would love that connection. I don't know if I would want that liability.

Barbara, the best I'll do is the fuel mix and bar oil

Sheldon, that's the nice thing about a public vs member's only blog.

Philip, yes they do cut keys, and all of their blanks are brass, instead of the cheap aluminum blanks that break off in the locks. Plus you get get just one of any type of screw, nut or bolt.

Hannah, so much for being helpful

Valerie, when you're the blog of the community you have responsibilities. BTW when does that take place?

William, got to love it, I probably should have made an appointment

Karen, the answer is yes, and they carry Stihl equipment, one of the best

George, for you that's a good thing as you blog so often about getting a mortgage

Call a Marana neighbor, I'm THERE!

Love your story.  I received a call a week or so ago from a young woman, wanting to know what there was "to do" in Marana on a Saturday night.  Seems she was looking all over the internet for something to do as a visitor, and she kept getting my blogs!  HA!  Talk about a warm feeling.  That is amazing that a year old blog is still getting you calls.  You have quite an internet presence!!
