Dog Days of Summer Festsival in Cardiff by the Sea

The Dog Days of Summer are here.

Dogs on the beach at Dog Beach Del Mar CA

The real canine variety, not the period of summer we know as that (want to know where the dog days of summer phrase comes from? Check out the link).

Dog Dressed to the Nines in Los AngelesThe 5th Annual Dog Days of Summer in Cardiff is a contest and canine festival featuring man's (and woman's) best friend on Saturday August 14th from 10 am until 3 pm, on Aberdeen Drive where it meets San Elijo Avenue along the coast.

The festival is billed as "entertainment for dogs and the people who love them."

This fun event is sponsored by the Cardiff 101 Association.  The Dog Days of Summer festival includes a host of vendors (lots of dog products), fun activities, speakers on a variety of topics (e.g., summer pet allergies, holistic healing, cage free grooming, dog training and more), doggie contests (cutest puppy, biggest dog, smallest dog, best kisser, best dressed, etc.), pet adoptions and more.

So bring your pooch, or just come by to check out Dog Days of Summer this Saturday in Cardiff-by-the-Sea.

Hi Jef, Now that I have no little ones, I probably won't prioritize this event this year but by next year, all that can change-hopefully, :-).But I will be at Art Splash and hope to see you there.

How cute.  A parade of dogs.  I would love to check that out but would be petting every dog that passed.

Looks like a fun parade, but I'm wondering if they have pooper scooper people following the dogs like they do for horses in parades.

At least in Cardiff the dog days of summer can also happen in January!  Looks like a fun event and if I still lived in LA, I'd make the trip.

Aw, Jeff, I miss this event!  I took my giant Sadie dog there when she was just a wee little thing and we both had a great time.  As a 'new parent' back then, I can remember lending FAR too much support to all of the vendors.  I'm sure Sadie thought it was Christmas in August!

(Although living in San Diego meant that Christmas in December wasn't much different than Christmas in August!)
