Oregonians are weird creatures, won’t you become one?

Many people think of Oregon that has a lot of rain and yes we do, but, mainly during the winter months and this year was an extra wet year. We had record amounts in April, May and June this year averaging 25 days of rain in each of those months. It actually pushed our fresh fruits and vegetables back a little. We are just getting our blueberries and strawberries in now and they normally show up in the beginning of June.

But, as much as we complain about the rain being her too long, we will also complain about the sun being here too long also. We really like an even mix of sun and rain. We like the rain as it keeps our part of the country green. But, we also like to have the sun, so we can play out in it and enjoy the green that God has given us.

So, as we hideaway and lose our tans during the winter, during the summer months we find ways to remind ourselves of how much fun the rain was and we say to ourselves. Boy, can’t wait until it cools off and the rain returns. But, we seem to find ways to remind ourselves how much fun a good mud puddle can be even if we have to make it ourselves.

Oregonians make their own fun

Todd, I don't think that complaining about the weather is limited to Oregon.  In fact, places with perfect weather have people that complain also!

Todd, I think that folks EVERYWHERE like to talk about the weather.  It's just one of those things we all do.

Good post about Oregon though and I especially like the signature portion of your posts where you offer the free MLS search.  Does this result in lots of folks signing up to your CRM?

Todd, i have a good friend who lives in Eugene & we went to visit a number of years ago in June & the weather was great then...but the pollen killed one of my kids & we decided we couldn't move there.  It's great country...there's nothing like a mud puddle

I tell my husband all the time that we are moving to the Pacific Northwest!  I LOVE the rain, hate the sun - always thought it would the perfect place for me.  That's a GREAT picture to go with this post!

Todd,

A lot of rain sounds like a welcome change from the relentless heat wave.  I was drenched showing properties yesterday and meeting contractors.  I'd rather get wet by raindrops!

Now the offer to become weird, well, I doubt Oregon has cornered that market:-)

All the best, Michelle

Whether your in Oregon experiencing the rain or other parts of the country where it is incredibly hot (my hometown) I think everyone should enjoy a good mud puddle now and again.

Todd,

I absolutely LOVE this picture.  She is absolutely a sweetheart in her pink boots.  One thing is for sure, I love your beautiful Oregon.  I am not sure about the Rain necessary to get it that green.  For now, I guess I will just have to visit more often...

Todd, we have had an exceedingly hot summer here.  Really no relief since early May.  We actually look forward to those overcast, rainy days to get some relief from the sun and heat.  I can't wait for the gently breezes of the fall.

I grew up in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona.  Rain would evaporate before reaching the ground.  Retirees would paint their gravel green to simulate grass.  Storms would bring flash floods that would leave the ground dry again the next day.

Ever since I moved to the verdant landscape of western Oregon I have welcomed the rain that makes everything green.  In Arizona, a little rain would force everyone indoors.  In western Oregon, the misty rain is a minor inconvenience.  It's nice to enjoy four mild seasons.  Bring on the rain!

I do love the fact that my dad was able to capture this shot as it really shows the innocence of children.
