The Murchison Road portion of the Interstate 295 extension in Fayetteville is showing some substantial progress, Finally!! The word congestion can not start to define our area if approved Road Projects aren't started and completed on schedule. The Fayetteville area is poised for some tremendous growth, yet it seems we are lagging to far behind on setting up the infrastructure to support the growth of Fort Bragg with BRAC. We have heard estimates that the Fayetteville, Fort Bragg area could easily grow by 30,000 families in the next 5 years.
The I-295 interstate once fully completed will be a 35 mile (56.5 km) loop around the west side of Fayetteville built to help relieve congestion through that city and to provide direct access from Fort Bragg to I-95. I-295 is also known as the Fayetteville Outer Loop. Currently over 7 miles (11 km) of the roadway are open from Interstate 95 to U.S. Highway 401.
The growth to Fayetteville is coming and very fast. We need local and state officials to move quickly to put the necessary support systems in place. 30,000 families will be driving on the highways, eating in more restaurants, and of course my favorite purchasing homes in the area ; )
