Time Management - Time Blocks ?

By
Industry Observer

Time Management is one of the biggest issues for a successful agent.

Have you ever organized your time using a formal time block system?  Do you already do something like this?  Is it helpful?

Mine is shown below.  I used MS Excel because it lets me block and use color codes.  Click Image for Larger View:  This is what I strive to do.  I confess, my adherance is not perfect, but just having this in writing helps me manage my time...

Do you have the self discipline to stick to something like this?

Would a free excel spreadsheet like this be helpful so you could make changes instead of start from scratch?  I might be able to offer it as a free download at http://www.myrealcoach.com/ if enough people want it.  Let me know.

If you do not do things like this, and block time for the family as well, you will wonder what happed to the day.  It is a must.

I'm terrible at sticking to time management systems and have found that I do better getting up in the morning and writing down my priorities for the day.  About every other week, I still down and prioritize for the next two weeks.  Not much of a system, but it works for me.

Anybody else?

Is this too much organization or "mandatory" to rise above the average level of productivity in this business...

Can you just chase buyers and sellers 10 hours a day and make a good living, or do you need a plan?

What's your plan.... how do you organize your day?

I use Google Calendar to map my days.  It can be color coded and accessed from any PC that has an Internet connection.

I also have lists - To do, To Call and To Purchase
