Hudson Old Home Days begins today, Thursday Aug. 12th and runs through Sunday Aug. 15th and will be held on the grounds of the Hills House located on Route 102 across from Alvirne High School.
This is a fun-filled event for the entire family. There will be a carnival, food, games,music and exhibits and much much more!
THURSDAY
- 5:00 - 8:00 State Police Exhibits, Humane Society of Greater Nashua and Historic Hills Tours for $2.
- 5:00 - 10 PM Food, exhibits, vendors and carnival (check pay one price wrist bands)
- 6:00 - Karoke with Disco Bob
FRIDAY
- 5:00 - 8:00 The Humane Society of Greater Nashua will be attending and you can adopt a pet or make a donation. The State police will be on hand with exhibits and a helicopter.
- 6:00 live auction to benefit Zachary Thompson's Memorial Field foundation
- 6:30 p.m. Kids can enjoy scavenger hunt (ages 6-14).
- 6:00 - 10:00 Old #7 Band performs
SATURDAY
- 8:00-11:30 a.m. The annual Hudson-Litchfield Rotary Club pancake breakfast at the Alvirne High School cafeteria -- $5/person (under 5 free) - proceeds benefit the scholarship fund
- 10:00 a.m. is the poker run which benefits the Jeff Roone Sports Foundation and Special Olympics ($20/driver & $10 passenger) winner to be announced at 3:00 p.m.
- All day events include field games, exhibits, contest, demonstrations. carnival and the Haystack Treasure Hunt!
- 12:00 - 7:00 p.m. Charming Farm will have its petting zoo and there will be pony rides for a small fee.
- The antique tractor exhibit will be returning even bigger and better!
- The Hudson k-9 unit will be meet and greet everyone and introduce the newest K-9 member.
- 7:00 p.m. - 11:00 Smokehouse lightning blues band will be entertaining from 7:00 - 11:00 p.m and break for the fireworks at 9:30!
- SUNDAY
- 12:00 - 2:00 The Ugliest Car Contest is being held on Sunday from noon until 2:00 and there will be 2 prizes ~ 1 for the natural ugliest car and 1 for the ugliest decorated car ~ $125 Sunoco gift certificate.
- Granite State Zoo's wildlife encounters will be on hand in the afternoon. Charming Farm will again have its petting zoo and pony rides for a fee.
- All day events include field games, exhibits, contests and demonstrations.
A BIT OF HISTORY
The ALVIRNE Hills House is the current home of the Hudson Historical Society. ALVIRNE is the former Summer Home of Dr. Alfred K. Hills and his family. The home was built in 1890 by Dr. Hills for his wife. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visit the Hudson Historical Website to see photos of the Alvirne Hills House now and in its past.
The Hudson Historical Society provides a history of the Town of Hudson through maps. For a small fee of $2.00, you can tour the Hills House.
