Finding Your Dream Home In Colorado Springs, Academy School District 20, Tip #3: Lot Size and Privacy
Academy School District 20 covers a very large area within Colorado Springs. The lots can vary in size from as small as a town house to a multipule acre horse property. Most homes in Academy School District 20 are on traditional lots smaller than 1/4 acres. Many people not familiar with this area are surprised when they visit for the first time, thinking that we have expansive lots, after all, it is Colorado, but for the most part, we do have smaller lots. Many of the newer neighborhoods in Academy School District 20, such as Pine Creek, Flying Horse, Cordera, and Wolf Ranch, were developed to take advantage of the great mountain views and minimize intrusion of the close neighbors by limiting window placement on the side of the homes looking into the neighbor's homes.
The older neighborhoods, such as Gleneagle, Rockrimmon, Black Forest, and Peregrine are bigger lots with more space and larger trees. If time permits, we highly recommend to our clients a house-hunting trip to allow us to take them to the different neighborhoods and show them around well in advance of their planned move. Once they know the area they want to move to, we can then set them up with a custom website populated from the Colorado Springs MLS and they can watch the properties on the market at their leisure. This works very well for all our buyers.
So when deciding on a home's lot size in Academy School District 20 take the following into consideration:
1) Future family pets;
2) A place where young children can play safely unattended;
3) A place to throw the ball;
4) Getting to know your neighbors;
5) Privacy for family events;
6) A place to hang out on hot summer evenings;
7) Mountain views to continually delight the eyes and the senses.
