Political Fallout

So, Bush and Kerry are at it again.  After John Kerry fired a bunch of one liners the entire GOP is up in arms and ready to tar and feather the Senator.  Can't anyone take a joke anymore?  What ever happened to free speech?

I can hardly wait to see what happens next.  I appreciate what Kerry had to say about the state of our country.  I understood completely when he made fun of Bush,  "You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

With all of the resources at his fingertips our President should be making informed decisions about foreign and domestic policies.  There are men and women out there that have a better understanding of how to deal with, and achieve diplomatic relationships with different cultures that are different from ours. These people are paid to advise and counsel our leaders.  It is up to our leaders to listen.

Bush's response was the classic gibberish that we have been laughing at for six years now,  "The members of the United States military are plenty smart and they are plenty brave, and the senator from Massachusetts owes them an apology," said Bush.

I have served in the military and I know that we have intelligent and brave men and women serving our country.  Bush's quote just further supported Kerry's joke, however "botched" it may have seemed to the press and everyone else who found it objectionable.

I am glad that you understood what his intent may have been, but his  words were offensive.  John Kerry is nothing more than a hack himself.  If he has an answer, if anyone has an answer that is better that what we have now, I am listening......

Oh, I love the ...I served comment.  Thank-you!  Me too.  20 years and counting!!!!!

I think he meant what he said. He is very above the average guy and gal. He has an attitude. He didnt do well in the South because we know when someone is trying to pull a fast one. I remeber Kerry saying he had a plan, why not throw it out on the table. If you go to an inner city schools you cannot get into the military any longer. These are all democarts that run these schools that i know of. Back to real estate

John Kerry is a scurrilous man.  Eric is correct when he says that John Kerry is of above average intelligence.  In fact, he borders on brilliant.  He is a seasond politician and former Presidential candidate!  He knows that words, when spoke from someone of his stature, mean EXACTLY what he says.

The sad fact is that John Kerry, for all of his experience as a combat veteran, is reallly a hater of the military and all that it stands for.  He holds the military in contempt with his suggestion that the "flunkies" in life will end up in Iraq.

Hey John!  Your radical politics of the 1960's didn't play in middle America.  Your offensive implications about our military stains the memories of these brave men and women deeper than the blood on their tunics.

Bush's response was dead on.  The members of our military are plenty smart and plenty brave.  Perhaps if it was delivered with a Harvard accent it would carry more meaning to the elitists who want to surrender to Al Quaida today.

If Kerry took a little time talking to our military men and women, he would not make a comment like the one he made-even if made in jest.  The military has long been dominated by blue-collar folks, yes the more conservative among us-but that doesn't make them uneducated or ignorant-which is exactly how that comment came across.  As long as he remains an elitist, he'll not get support among those of us who have worked every day of our lives and didn't marry into money.
