The Morristown Rotary Club Board decided on August 10th to move forward with a plan to create an online presence for the club as a means of communication between members and to make the club more attractive to new members. The plan will include a club website, a club group on LinkedIn and a Facebook fan page among other internet savy activities.
WEBSITE AND PROMOTION
The plan will create a social media platform including at least one Website and a pereiodic Newsletter for the Morristown Rotary Club with ongoing updates, blogs and events by administrator and members. A blog platform will be utilized through wordpress and uploaded to Technorati blog directory. Bookmark links will be sent to www.Digg.com and www.Delicious.com so others can find them easily. Keywords and tags will be optimized for search engines and sent to Stumbleupon.com and Blogcatalog.com bookmarking sites. Articles to promote the club will be sent to sites like Ezinearticles.com to create backlinks, and Rotary International RSS feeds will be plugged into sites. Traffic will be driven to site through a squidoo lens, AddThis.com and Google, Yahoo and Bing search engines.
SOCIAL MEDIA
A Facebook fanpage, a LinkedIn group, a YouTube account, a shutterfly account, and a Twitter account will be created and maintained for the club and updates will be distributed through www.ping.fm. NEWSLETTER
A periodic newsletter will be sent by email to drive traffic to website/websites and social media platforms, and www.Eventbright.com will be used to send out event notiications with RSVP's if needed.
As of today, the plan is well underway with a domain registered at www.morristownrotarynow.com for the interactive website and a facebook fan page created at www.facebook.com/morristownrotaryclub. Invitations have been sent to facebook active members, and when enough people have viewed and "liked" the page this URL will be ready to link to website and promote the club. The linkedIn group, The Morristown Rotary Club, has been created and invitations will soon be sent to members.
