Living in a Storybook home in Sonoma County's Historical District - Why are we Selling?

As a realtor of over 30 years, I know a wonderful house when I see it. 913 Spring St.Forgive me if this may sound egotistical but I will let you all judge for yourselves...I have just put my own house on the market (I have a partner who will step in to negotiate)

I live in a French Tudor, built in 1921, in the wine region of Northern California on a street that was designed by the developer in the beginning of the twentieth century to be the "prettiest" street in Santa Rosa. The architectural details of the house have been maintained, the kitchen has been updated, painting went on for months, floors were refinished, new carpeting was installed, front and back patio's were cleaned, landscaping was changed and after months of making things sparkle and shine...we put our house on the market.

Why did we decide to sell this wonderful, old classic? Timing.

My husband and I have decided that "time" was a more valuable commodity to us than money. Yes, money is important but so are a lot of other things. We realized that a 3280 sq. feet home was more than what we needed or wanted to take care of anymore. We want more time for ourselves and travel ..in other words ..it was time to downsize and liberate ourselves from a big house and simplify.

So it is time to let someone else live their dream in a Vintage home in the Historical District of Northern California's wine region, after all, it really is a wonderful house....even if I do say so myself!

Hi Kathleen - Sounds great.  I'm sure someone will appreciate both the features of the home and neighborhood as well as your recent efforts in upgrading.  Good luck!

Kathleen, It's nice to see you on AR! Wow, this is a beautiful home! It's going to sell quickly. I agree with you, time is so precious and it's priceless! You are wise to look for ways to gain more time for you and your husband.

My husband and I are also planning to downsize and liberate. We live in a French Tudor home in Southern Ca. that reminds us so mjuch of yours. We are moving to Santa Rosa to be near our son and his wife.

Although we wanted a smaller place, it is so tempting to think of buying yours and moving our country english antique furniture right in there.

Any chance I can get details? Like the price.

Good luck with your new life. We are very excited about ours.

Judy

Yes, Kathleen you have been in the RE business for many, many years.  So I ask, why are you and your husband declaring bankruptcy and liquidating all of your properties for a loss?  As an RE professional I would have imagined that you would have not found yourself in this type of situation.  How many good people followed your advise over the last 5-10 years only to end up in the same position you are now in?  A good and wise realator you are to have so many properties in short or forclosure status.  Good luck to you.
