According to a new report by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS, Homeownership has a positive impact on social communities. NAR President Vicki Cox Golder said,"Homeownership is an investment in your future--- home is where we make our memories, build our lives, and feel comfortable and secure." She continues by saying, "Owning a home has a long standing government support in this country because homeownership benefits individuals and families, strengthen's our communities, and integral to our nation's economy."
Homeownership Influences Education:
Several Research studies (cited in NAR Report) have found that home ownership has an impact on educational achievement. For example, the decision to stay in school from a teenagers perspective raised by parents of homeowners are higher than those raised by renters.
Also access to educational opportunities more relevant in neighborhoods with high rates of homeowners.
Homeowners are Politically Active:
Homeowners are more likely to be political active as well as are more likely to vote in local elections compared with renters. Homeowners also have higher membership in volunteer organizations.
Homeownership is tied to Self Esteem:
Homeowners, according to the study, tend to believe they can do things as well as everyone else can. They also have higher rankings than renters on their physical health. Vicki Golder explains that, "The research shows that homeowners report higher self esteem and happiness than renters, resulting in better overall health."
