I was born with ordinary talents! Maybe if I took the time I could....
learn about phrasing, and be a poet
learn about perspective, and be an artist
learn about timing, and be a composer.
But I haven't taken the time!
I can't write about the golden color of the trees and sky. I can't explain how the light bounces off the water and into the clouds. I can't create the feeling I get watching the pine needles quiver in the breeze.
I'm not a poet!
I can't take my brush and put movement onto the canvass. I can't pull you into the moment with color and style. I can't blend the blue into the white into the golden and into the silhouette of the hills.
I'm not an artist!
I can't sit at a piano and make the music carry you away with the sun. I can't bring flute, trumpet and snares together to give you the feeling of the last flight of the mountain jay....or the first appearance of the bat.
I'm not a composer!
And as much as I wish I were.....I can appreciate the incredible beauty of tonight's sunset. The last few moments when the pine trees glisten a vivid green and then fade; the feeling of a perfect summer evening...and I'm so grateful to have this moment. That....I can do!
