Olympia Farmer's Market this weekend is full of the colors - and tastes - of summer! I headed down there with the goal of getting some peaches & nectarines - oh, so many to choose from!! Luckily you can get tastes of different varieties to decide which one (or ones) you like the very best.
Also admired the peppers and tomatoes - always really seems like true summer when those begin appearing in the market. Zesty, warm flavors to add some zing to our meals! Our own tomatoes are coming along, so I didn't buy any today, but did get some salad greens and also some Walla Walla sweet onions. My husband's favorite summer dish is sliced cucumbers from our garden, chopped up onions and vinegar and water to steep in until they have just the right bite.
I had to capture a photo of the blackberries for sale too. Every year these seem beyond ironic to me as we have an entire 1/4 mile long driveway absolutely lined with wild blackberries so that we can't pick enough to even make a dent in our own free supply. Won't need to be buying any of those!
Hurray for Farmer's Market on a warm summer weekend day! (And when will the sweet corn be arriving?????)
