Great prices for these lovely homes - plus it looks like they have a decent amount of land.  Were you really up at 3:25 AM writing this??

Cheryl: Our last newer homes on the east side of St. Charles. Out of land!

Margaret: These are a nice size for a newer subdivision. What's really nive is that the park district has forest preserve and wetlands so many homes back up to a natural area. It is was only 2:45, the computer puts os on EST!

Leslie:  I love it when the school systems are stressed as a very important consideration for buying .. and you point out the benefits of moving in this Naperville school district extremely well.  As a former appraiser, I can tell back up that it does indeed make a difference to the quality of life and re-sale value of your home.  Again ... well done, Leslie!

Gene, I'm just a tad biased. St. Charles does so very well on all the test scores, and yet we plug away on continual improvement rather than tooting our many horns. Thanks, though, we continue to try to do our best!

Leslie:  I didn't mean to make it seem like I was promoting Naperville schools in particular ... although they obviously have much to offer.  I agree that St. Charles schools have much to recommend themselves, as my brother Gregg and his wife both are teachers in the high schools there.  I may be a little prejudice, of course.  We are very lucky.  Within close proximity, we have many excellent school districts for potential buyers to consider.  With the linkage of major highways being completed in the last few years further south, suburbs that were once a major drive are no longer so.  My boys attended Lincoln-Way High School (as I and my wife did), and received tremendous educations there.  We now live in Lockport, Illinois ... and the high school there is amazing as well.  All these areas could be considered (with others) fairly easily now, depending on the location of employment.

The point I was trying to make (and obviously did very poorly), was that buyers need to do their own "homework" and find out what the "scores" of the schools and school districts are that they are considering moving into and paying their taxes for.  It's very important, whether they have children attending or not.  Their bottom-line financially can be effected immensely.  I did not mean to be a cheerleader for one school district over another.

Gene....do your relatives teach at East or North? We're at St. Charles East.

My favorite school comparison site for a buyer to start on is accessed through the NIU website. It lets a a user compare up to five or six schools at once across many cirteria, from class size by grade, to admin spending, to ACT 11th grade scores on each section of the test. What works for one family isn't right for another.

The other things that matter in picking a school include campus size, availability of certain sports or activities, and whether someone wants a house that is walk to school or if riding a bus is OK. It's rewarding to help someone evaluate their choices.

Leslie:  I am fairly certain that both are teaching at North.  Gregg is in the English department .. Ann is an art teacher.  They have both been in the St. Charles system for many many years and live there as well.
