Have  any of you notice that the Realtors watch is wrong?

I get to the office at 7:00 a.m and there's no one here until 9:00 a.m and they take a lunch break at 12:00 p.m if not early, to top it off they get to the office and start eating because they had no time to eat at home, while in the lunch room they start gossping about the other realtora that are working, they waste tons of time just gossiping oh! wait the phone is ringing, MAN is my dog he needs to eat then they  go home by 3:00 p.m.

what heck are they doing in the business if they just sit there all day.

Wait, last year i sold 3 HOMES.... Great FOR YOU...... BIGGEST EXCUSE: I DON'T NEED TO SELL ALOT OF HOMES 3 HOMES PAYS MY BILLS.

yEAH IF YOour living in an apartment, when the rent is only $700.

what the heck are they doing here all day waiting for the PhOnE to RiNg and if they do not get busy today they blame it on the market...

geez i know the market is thougth but is thougther went we just wait for a contract  sign to be drop from the sky.

The question is why the Broker and/or Office Manager allows this behavior.

I will second Dan's comment. Plus it is true that a lot of agents in the business do not need to work because their husband is the bread winner, it's simply something they can do and get out of the house and from time to time bring home some extra money or mall money as most call it.

Dont knock them, that is your competition and if that is what they are doing they are making your job that much easier.

Another reason I work from home!

As for Rosario's comment, it's because they're Independent Contractors and they can run their business however they want!  If they choose to just talk in the break room all day, who cares.  The Broker doesn't pay them a salary.  They only get paid when they have a closing, and that's what they want to do.

That's why 5% of the realtors to 95% of the business.....They're just giving you the opportunity to be in that 5%.  Yay!!

LEARN TO LOVE IT!   They ARE your competition.  Don't worry or care about the OTHER PEOPLE in the office.  Keep your focus on YOUR business and you will be far more successful.

I agree with Richard. Come into the office, act professional, and stay above the fray/gossip. IT'll set you apart. Of course, you'll also be called unsociable ... or a cold fish ... or worse. Do you care? Get thick skin if you're in this business, and you'll be 10x more efficient & productive than the gossipers any day.

WOW WOW !!!!! everyone is getting offended. you must be one of those who are unproductive.

and No, THEY ARE NOT MY COMPETITION... THEY ARE JUST AGENT WHO HAVE BUYER FOR 1 OF MY 30 CURRENT LISTINGS.

am not unsociable, as matter of fact I am the most sociable in the office, and not a cod. and of course i care, i give every single one of my ways to prospect.

Hey--I didn't mean to offend! Really. I was just giving my experience. In my old office, I avoided the lunch room like the plague. One day, the manager told me I should spend time with the girls socializing because they thought my businesslike behavior (come in, get work done, leave) was cold and not friendly. I think you should socialize, but when it becomes unproductive and wastes more time talking about other people, then you need to concentrate on what you're in the office to do: work. In my old office, they spent more time talking about other agents & complaining about their clients than actually prospecting and doing deals.

you can't really avoid all the comments and the complaining, i try to help the agents in my office by telling them or even helping them. my broker said that i should just concentrated on my work, but i think that those agents are just lost, if you read 21 Ways to prospect i give more than 21 ways to prospect, i give them to the agents here, and in the office and they still won't do it.. so that's why i wrote this blog.

That's a great list! I agree, I'm into the "just concentrate on your work" and you'll succeed philosophy. There is so much info out there--like Active Rain, great books on real estate, etc. But you cannot make some read it or do the work. If they are motivated, they'll seek out the information and they'll succeed.
