Facebook Real Estate Application Updated to Support New Layout

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with RealBird Inc.

We released a quick patch for the RealBird Facebook Page Real Estate application to support the new Facebook Page layout that will be rolled out on August 23. Facebook announced that "Boxes" will be eliminated and the custom tabs content area will be reduced to 520 pixels. In fact, we already saw these changes on our own RealBird Facebook Page so we decided to not wait until the last minute: you can get the new FBML code in the RealBird member area now.

Below is an example on our own Facebook Page. Of course, your version will show your own listings on your own Facebook Page:

Facebook Page Real Estate RealBird Application

If you have been using this RealBird feature already, you can just overwrite the existing FBML code with the new one or add it fresh from the RealBird member area (Widgets>Lisitng Widgets).

To learn about this feature and other ways to utilize the RealBird platform including an introduction to the new RealBird WordPress plugin, please join us at the next RealBird Webinar on August 18, from 9 AM to 10 AM (Pacific Time)

Thanks

Hi Barbara

Please call us at (866) 551-2934 and we will promptly help you with installing the "Homes for Sale" tab.  Or, you may review  the tutorials for installing the widget on your Facebook profile and/or your business page at http://realbird.wiki.zoho.com

Hi Barbara,

To add to Gabe's comment: The Homes for Sale tab can be added both to Facebook Pages and Facebook Profiles. Step-by-step instructions are provided in the RealBird member area under "Widget" or you can call or email for help. These tabs are not indexed by search engines as far as I can tell, so the way people find this tab is when they actually visit your Page or Profile. For example many agents and brokers provide community centric Facebook Pages and they do not want to overload those Walls with real estate listings. The tab application provides a "gentle" way to provide real estate information. For example, on our own RealBird Facebook Page, Facebook Insight reports that our Homes for Sale demo tab receives some 4% of the Page traffic, so people do view that extra info. Finally, we have an earlier post that summarizes other ways you can use RealBird for Facebook marketing

I hope this helps

that was easy when I looked at the instructions again and noticed you have one for the page and one for the profile. Thanks!

Zoltan - Thanks for the update. It's better to have it available before the real changes take place.

Thanks Robert. It's a simple change of width/height in the code, but you are right, it's better to be proactive with issues like this and we could be, because Facebook had a notification out early enough.

Hi Adrian - Yes there is a newer option (iframe vs the legacy Facebook FBML) Please see our tutorial: http://realbird.wiki.zoho.com/Setting-up-a-Facebook-Fan-Page-with-Homes-For-Sale-Tab.html

The cool thing that you can now also embed the RealBird Property Search (e.g. the map-search) the same way via the iframe app. We'll have a tutorial about that as well
