Real Estate is a full-time job career!

In order for your real estate agent to perform his/her job effectively and help you with your purchase or sale of a home, it's important that they keep on top of the market, deadlines, marketing, the mortgage process, inspections, and the many other components that make up the real estate sales process.

Due to the nature of the sales business and the ups and downs of working in a commission based career, many agents who fail to plan and budget, necessarily succumb to the whims of the market.

Alternatively, those who treat real estate as the full-time career that the profession demands are the ones that are most successful in serving the needs of their clients and making sure that sales get to the closing table.

Please watch this entertaining video below to see why you don't want your real estate agent to have a side job.  When interviewing agents to help with your real estate needs, always ask "Are you a full-time REALTOR?"

Great video but I imagine you might get a few comments from part time. I also did a post on part time agents but this video is great.

I'm a full time agent, but I have a part time job within the industry. I do BPOs for asset companies and banks. Last month I did something like 40 BPOs. This keeps me in the industry and brings in an extra paycheck. Keep in mind that we live in a very rural area that is sparsely populated. I have more than the average agent in closings, but right now our market is really slow, and my part time job allows me to work around my real estate career.

Great video, Brian.  I think I just may have to reblog it.  This really does illustrate the point as clearly as you can.

I once worked with a guy that was a fireman and it was SO hard to talk to him when he was 'at work".

So many realtors have had to take second jobs.  Really doesn't do the seller justice.
