I don't mind telling you that Janice and I probably owe most of our current success to Gary Keller's book SHIFT, How Top Real Estate Agents Tackle Tough Times. In a time when many agents were going bankrupt and losing their own homes to foreclosure, we were actually growing our business. The message was simple,

Over the next twelve weeks, I will be writing mini book reports about SHIFT. I will pick out my favorite nuggets of wisdom and share them with you as tips. Don't cheap out and think that you can read my blog to get all of the details. Spend the $18! It is worth every penny!
Chapter One - Get Real, Get Right
The key points that I took away from this chapter is twofold:
1. Everything has to start with the right mindset. Real estate is not an easy business. Agents who come into the industry thinking that it will be an easy way to make huge amounts of money usually fail. Your mindset needs to be, "This is a difficult business but I am prepared to do whatever it takes to succeed."
2. Turn that mindset into action! The best ideas in the world won't make you a penny unless you get out and put them to work. Gary Keller refers to it as moving from Inspiration to Perspiration. Take those ideas and put them into action. The market is shifting, do whatever it takes to succeed.
