$3 Billion to Make Home Payments for the Unemployed

The Administration has approved $2 billion from the Housing Finance Agency Innovation Fund for Hardest Hit Housing Markets to help homeowners with unemployment, under-employment or medical problems that prevent work to stay in their homes. Homeowners in these situations who are facing foreclosure can apply for assistance for up to two years in order to pay mortgages.

The Housing and Urban Development agency is also making $1 billion available for up to 24 months of assistance to homeowners who are unemployed and in trouble with paying their mortgages.
