My son has been attending Gainesville State College and has found that the classes are challenging and the campus is beautiful. Gainesville College was orginally a non residential two year degree school created in 1964. The school is 45 mines northeast of Atlanta and a few miles from downtown Gainesville. Close by is Lake Lanier, the City of Oakwood, the Appalachian Trail, and many wonderful communities.
The enrollment is now around 6,000 and the school is now a full 4 year College. This school offers Bachelors of Applied Science in Environment and Spatial Analysis, Bachelor of Science with a Major in Early Childhood Care and Education, Bachelor of Applied Science with a Major in Technology Management, Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Associate of Applied Science degrees, in addition to certificate programs in Information Technology, Geographic Information Systems and Personal Fitness Training.
Many of the students commute. Now there is housing also available to live next to campus. There are many academic and extra curricular activities offered at Gainesville State College. There are clubs, intramural sports, bands, chorus, publications, arts and international student programs.
