VOTE! It is your right!

THAT WAS AN IMPORTANT AMENDMENT FOR WOMEN CITIZEN VOTERS.

Now for THE OUTRAGE OF 2010.

The MOVE Act, enacted last October, ensures that servicemen and women serving overseas have ample time to get in their absentee ballots. The result of the DOJ's alleged inaction in enforcing the act, say Eric Eversole and J. Christian Adams - both former litigation attorneys for the DOJ's Voting Section - could be that thousands of soldiers' ballots will arrive too late to be counted. . . . MORE.

Sadly, we may need a new Amendment to the Constitution of the United States to enable ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY PERSONNEL to vote in November 2010.

The government appears to be manipulating the process for military folks to vote making it impossible for them to get the forms and return them in time to BE COUNTED.

VOTE! It is your right!VOTE! It is your right!

Today marks the 90th Anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to VOTE! Think of all the women who sacrificed so much to ensure that we have the constitutional right to voice our opinions through our actions.

I GET GOOSEBUMPS TO THINK OF ALL THEY GAVE UP FOR US. It is so vital to get out and VOTE!

And if you forgo your right to VOTE, then you are mute to who gets voted in, what gets voted on and the events that may happen because of your lack of action.

It is a right and I'm proud to say that I exercise that right as often as I can!

Happy Anniversary ladies!

It's very sad that the people serving out county will not be to have there votes counted again, there is no acceptable excuse for this to happen again. Heads should roll.

Good luck and success.

Thank you for the re-blog Lenn. The lack of commitment is a shame, especially when each and every vote counts!

Wanda.  The commitment on the part of the military members is fine.  It's Congress that is blocking them.

Ridiculous that the government doesn't make it easy as possible for the military to vote. Can't say I'm very surprised.

Lenn I am a Vietnam Vet and I am also the Head Republican Moderator here in Middletown.  I mention that because I would not be in favor of extending the time for military ballots to be counted beyond election day. Extending the date would not be fair in my opinion to all other voters. However, with todays technowlogy military personal should be able to vote electronically at the base they are stationed at.

While I would disagree that anyone has a right to vote (only limitations on reasons that they can be excluded from voting in federal elections), I am right there with you on the disgrace of creating systems to disallow military personel serving overseas from voting.

Their votes HAVE to be counted.

Evelyn.  It was lost on November 2006.

Scott.  I'm not surprised at anything.

George.  I wouldn't favor extending the date for any group.  However, that doesn't justify the Democrat's continued efforts to block, impede and frustrate our military personnel from voting.  They are overseas by mission and assignment.  The law is there for them to be able to vote.  When the government impedes their ability to vote, it is purely for political purposes because the active duty military votes slghtly in the majority for Republicans.  All the government had to do was make the delivery of the absentee ballots available timely.  Instead, they impeded the delivery.

Lane.  I didn't write that "anyone has a right to vote".  In fact, I don't believe for one minute that anyone has the right to vote.  However, our active duty military personnel does have the right to voteand are being impeded.  Disenfranchised is, I believe the word.  Of all groups to be disenfranchised, this is not the group, those serving our country.

While it might be a right for a US citizen, unfortunately the Constitution does not say anything about foreigners NOT being allowed to vote.

Lenn -- thank you.  This is a very timely post.  I just realized I needed to subscribe to your blog this morning thanks to Deb Garvins post.

I also just posted a blog where I would value your input; it's a friend from school that has just been stationed in DC and is seeking a lease on a 4 bedroom home for the next 10 months.  I appreciate any input you may have:

Lynn, we know why that is happening...don't we. How much of the party in power doesn't have the support of the military. Tragic as many things are today.

Now if all they grant amnesty to all the illigals, before the election...the final nail is in the coffin.

Lenn - thanks for posting, I only have one correction to Wanda's post. Women were not given the right to vote, the ammendent states that women cannot be prohibited the right to vote. The right was already there, it was just denied in some states (not all) and localities.

Also, poorly publicized was that the lawyers for Gore, in 2000, tried to get the military vote from overseas disqualified in the election in Florida because the ballots were not postmarked correctly (but they did follow military guidelines).

Those things being said, this is just another example of the current justice department's disregard for the American people and military.

Missy.  They can't get that amnesty thing before November, but after that.. . . .

Mike.  Thanks.  You are better at the details than I.  However, I lived through the Florida debacle and I recall a lot of Democrat manipulation.

Jay.  You bet I'm right.  I've seen our foreign stationed military members having to jump through hoops to get an absentee ballot timely counted for too long.  In 2000, it was a national disgrace.  It appears that that will be the case this November too.
