17 Comments on I NEVER MET A RE/MAX AGENT THAT I DID NOT LIKE............
You have been lucky . I have met folks who are great and folks who are not so great. The brokerage rather than the label seems to make the difference
I agree with Charlie. I think it's the individual and the brokerage...whatever company it may be. I have a very ethical broker that really cares about people and how we all do business. And I've seen the good, bad and ugly. I'm currenly on my fourth office in 3 years, and I do believe I've found a place to stay.
Richie- I am an independent as well. Remax is, in my view, a great firm for agents with experience to operate independently under the banner of name recognition.
Richie, i was REMAX & left last year after a number of years with the franchise- being independent was more to my liking...corporate REMAX was very heavy handed when I, along with my office, left the franchise & it's left a bad taste with me on big corporate box franchises...i have many friends who are with 'named' companies that are good agents but again everyone's experience is different. Training is what the individual broker makes it & my broker has always been at the forefront pushing us to his credit. As you say it's the devoted ones who will provide the best for their customers...and i hope i do!
Charlie...luck may or may not play into it. I prefer to think of it as we attract or repel our "need to know" situations. Observing people who who practiced the RE/MAX way taught me things that benefited me....that's all. I am on one big quest to improve the one called Richie......and people come in handy for that...Your valid statement of the "brokerage" certainly applies...thank you Charlie for your input.....
Debbie....fascinating point and it has to be honored. The combination of a right fit is something not only worth pursuing, but so rewarding when it is found. Tools, Real Estate agents need quality tools to put in their personal luggage and then haul those tools around until you find a place where they glow and are welcomed.....I certainly want that for you dear girl.....thank you and best to you
JPF.....well said and I am in agreement. There is room for every-ones business philosophy even though not every-ones business philosophy does good business. That right fit, that special combination....when the ducks start signing "when the saints go marching home" is truly rewarding...for all concerned....Thank you J. Philip Faranda and I have been enjoying your posts of late......good stuff........
I think there is a lot to say for independent companies. Often they can develop greater expertise in a given market place that is wanted by the consumer. Sometimes the companies can get so big that the quality of the service and expertise is not what it should be.
Ginny.... your comment proves you are amongst the best......you know what works and what doesn't and you journeyed until you found that answer for yourself.....You prove the point of...by servicing your self and your standards first, you now can service others.......your ducks are not only lined up, but pretty to look at it. Quack on.....and Thanks for your input this morning.....
Joan...this is a very good observation and statement on your part. It reminds me of some of the different corner eating places you find all over New York. Each one caters to the dynamics of their area and offer some of the best food around. Then, there are the old reliables named burger places and pizza joints for those that want the guaranteed outcome....so it is with the independents and the franchise's. Your last sentence says it all....."Sometimes the companies can get so big that the quality of the service and expertise is not what it should be"...thank you for your contribution Joan...very appropriate and meaty....
Richie, there was a small boutique company in LA called DBL it was the same they attracted, good knowledgeble, dedicated professionals. I attribute that to the ethical as well as knowledge of human nature type broker who recruits like minded agents. Not necessarily the Name Brand.
Endre.....take a bow for making a good point and thus a curtain call for you. How true and appropriate. Thank you for sharing it.....Beverly Hills is yours........
Richie - Some might say I got REMAX brainwashed, but yeah I am a RE/MAX-er. I think a lot has to do with the broker-owner too ( our local Broker Owner is Great). I moved to REMAX because of the bottom line issue, and I am a control freak. I like being in business for myself and the REMAX banner just gives me more tools to use. Just like I absorb all the intel here on AR, I do the same through what REMAX offers. Learning is Power.
Christine.....you have shed good light on this subject. thank you for that. i sense that it is always going to be the agent behind the desk and not the desk that does the work.......Well done and well said. Thank you for sharing your comments.....
Regards,
Richie!
You have raised some great points...I have my own decorating business for 30 years, and service is number one...
Always put the needs of the customer first...
Joshua.....you have spoken......and it works!
I knew I liked you for more than one reason Richie. Our RE/MAX office is basically independent agents and teams opperating under the RE/MAX umbrella.
Training is thorough and constant and there are very few folks there who are not serious about real estate.
Our broker has our backs and we dance to our own tune. We keep what we make and pay him a monthly fee. Pretty straight forward. But you pay even if you have no sales. That is why everybody there.... works.
Steve.....feelings are mutual. I have to quote you because it sums up my post in one sentence about all the RE/MAX ers that I have ever met....."Training is thorough and constant and there are very few folks there who are not serious about real estate". Now I ask you, if we are going to be in the business of Real Estate....well RE/MAX chose a a side.....the working side and it works if you work it.......This is not say that no one else can perform, but my post title holds true...and thanks to your comments too
Best
Richie,
We have training every Friday with inspectors, builders, accountants, lawyers, title people, social networking trainers etc. A computer tech comes in weekly to fix the individual agents laptops and software problems (part of the broker's service)
Our broker hosts a bi-monthly "information exchanges" at a local watering hole that agents from other companies come to as well. We usually have a presenter and open forum to talk about the market, our listings, what our buyers are looking for etc.
Our broker treats us as his clients. He provides service, training, and facilities and we pay him. He works hard to provide what we need to succeed, because if we fail, we cannot pay him and have to move to another more lenient model. Our broker will schedule weekly one on one meetings with you to discuss whatever you want. You can also call him anytime.
The RE/MAX model can work well for new agents if they join an established team. They work out their own commission splits with the team leader and can learn how to enter a listing etc. in a small tight environment.
RE/MAX is obviously not perfect and our office model would not work in a low volume area but it is a great place to be once you know the business and you want to operate independently yet within a known entity. Sorry to wax lyrical and be verbose in your forum :-)
Steve...your return to the post and your input is most valuable. I am very thankful you did. Our loss if you did not. Remember that for future use. My first impression after reading your comments was this.
These people are serious about Real Estate. They respect and acknowledge its broad reach and have systems in place to handle data, people, and problems via good team work and business planning. LISTEN, if you apply this type of "think" and beliefs to anything you do, success is sure to nip at your heals before you can put your foot down. If not, then the problem lies elsewhere....that's for sure. Thank you for sharing this potent focus for success.....most excellent
