Gracing the Front Entrance to your New York Home with the Principles of Feng Shui

In Feng Shui the front door and entry way are the most important points in your home environment. It is important to have a clear pathway to your front door because it is known as the "Mouth of Chi".  It is where all the positive energy enters into you home and your life. You will notice the Front door of this Nassau County Long Island NY home is redThe color Red in Feng Shui represents protection and is also a stimulant, encouraging all good Chi into your home.

Your pathway can also offer some insight with how the energy enters your space.  Many Long Island NY homes have straight pathways, which in Feng Shui is not considered the "best" but, we work with what is available.  A way to help soften the energy entering into your house is by adding flowers on either side of the your pathway or solar lights to help "light" the way.

A curved pathway is the most ideal and having a beautiful presentation of landscape leading to the front door provides great energy as well. You do not have to get fancy, it can be very simple.

In Feng Shui your front door should have two planters on either side to promote balance. Make sure your house number is  well presented too.  This relates to people, clients, potential buyers of a new home, anyone you wish to call into your life being able to find you literally and energetically.

Curb appeal and the entryway to a home can make or break a buyer's reaction to what is on the inside. These simple tips can mean the difference to a for sale sign or a sold sign in the front yard.

Super advice for exterior Feng Shui!  I had to giggle a little when I read about the planters on both sides and balance.  I am a little OCD about balance.  Have to do everything in "even" numbers......wierd, I know!

Thanks for the great tips Laura. Had to planters by the front steps and wondered if it was too matchy matchy looking.....interesting on the red door.  It does 'pop out' and looks good. Was considering doing our front door over in a very deep blue....you have us wondering now.

I so enjoy reading the information that you share.  I need to balance my front door with planters and seriously I don't even know where my house number is.  I'll pay attention this week.  Thanks for great information as always.

I love red doors, they really set off a home.  Also, the curved pathways really create visual interest.  I wish I know all this stuff before I bought my home - but my next home will be perfect ;-)
