Local Carlsbad Callaway Golf Cuts Jobs, Moves To Mexico.

Callaway Golf Co, announced last week a global restructuring-which slashes most of its assembly line work force in  Carlsbad and moves it to Mexico as part of a reorganization the company has started. On July 27, a day before it reported better than expected second-quarter profit results.

Callaway said it was implementing a restructuring that would relocate much of its assembly line work to Monterrey, Mexico and much of its distribution operations to Dallas. Callaway Golf is going it keep a present in Carlsbad, on site management team,

Currently Callaway Golf has six building in the Carlsbad community. Callaway Golf has a global work force of approximately 2300 employees.

This announcement has comes on the heels of the unemployment data being reported where unemployment is at the highest level since the latter quarter of 2009.

It comes down to bottom line, and with so many business being offered better tax incentives-California is seeing many of its local business relocating.
