School Bells are ringing! Train Whistles are blowing!

As the month of August has brought the end of summer fun for the school kids... It is back to grind stone!  With some schools in session in Horse and BuggySoutheast Iowa, the parents, teachers and kids are wondering where the summer went to?  With the school bells ringing on Monday in Mount Pleasant the kids are all thinking of the instant break that they get from the trains, trolleys and steam engines that will be blowing on Labor Day weekend. MP Steam Engines is hosting the 60th Annual Midwest Old Threshers.  From the church tents homemade food to the good old fashioned bank roberies, we are very excited for this time of year.  The small town of Mount Pleasant becomes a hub for antique cars to a replay of a log village for a 5 day period.  The smells of freshly dipped carmel apples and fresh turkey tenderloins grilled over the fire pit seem to be ever good during the humid summer days.  With these smells and surroundings it always seems to be a great time of year to get out and enjoy the sunshine as the summer is coming to its end.  The downtown area will be filled with crafters from around the midwest and the grandstands will be packed full for the music entertainment of the evening.  This year has a spread from Roy Clark to Gloriana, so if you are in the Southeast Iowa area, come on by.  Just follow your nose from all the delicious food and your ears for all of the horns and whistles.  It is a great way to spend a labor day holiday weekend at the Midwest Old Threshers Fair Grounds.
