Out and About Loving Annapolis
Brunch At The US Naval Academy
Recently we were honored to be the guests for brunch at the Naval Academy Club located on the grounds of the US Naval Academy. Now this was quite a treat as in order to have brunch, or lunch or dinner for that matter, at the Naval Academy you must be a member or a guest of a member.
It was a rainy and dreary day with heavy downpours interlaced with intermittent showers but inside was warm, welcoming and full of the grandness you see in all the buildings throughout the Naval Academy.
The brunch was everything I expected and more. The offerings were extensive and the service was top notch. I had a delightful conversation with one of the Chefs. He takes such pride in his work as was quite evident in the Salmon Platter that he prepared. I heard step by step of how he painstakingly and lovingly prepares this work of art and of preparing 28 of these platters just recently for the Superintendent during festivities for graduation week.
The Naval Academy Club is a dues-paying club with approximately 2700 members. Membership is open to all commissioned officers of all services and reservists, active and retired members of civilian faculty at USNA, service connected civilian personnel in graded ratings GS-7 (or equivalent) and above. Besides the wonderful fare of lunch, dinner and brunch, they offer catering which I understand is wonderful.
Thank you JJ and Donna Smith. Though the weather was dreadful your company, as always, was absolutely delightful. And the brunch.... well it was scrumptious for sure.
