SUMMER IS COMING TO A CLOSE? IT'S STILL A GREAT TIME TO GET YOUR BEACH ON!!
The kids may be going back to school, but the beach isn't closing! Here in Wrightsville Beach, NC and surrounding beaches the weather stays great for beach-going all the way in to October. And if you don't mind wearing a light sweater, November and December aren't too bad either! In fact, we spent last New Year's Eve fishing at Johnnie Mercer's Pier -- it was a little cold, but we had a great time! And I didn't have to wear heels!
Here are a few things to do in Wrightsville Beach and surrounding areas AFTER Labor Day and a few highlights:
Airlie Gardens Concert Series -- Fridays 6-8pm. Bring a picnic, comfy chair or blanket and listen to some great jazz under the branches of the Airlie Oak. $8/adult $2/child
Saturday September 11, 2010 9th Annual Longboard Classic. With 11 divisions there's sure to be something for everyone!
Friday September 17 - Sunday September 19, 2010 2nd Annual Southeast SUP Championship. Come see the Stand Up Paddleboard Championship!
Saturday September 25, 2010 7am 32nd Annual YMCA Triathlon. 1500 meter swim, bike over the Wrightsville Beach drawbridge and run "the loop"!
Saturday October 9, 2010 11am 17th Annual Bark in the Park Canine Disc Championship. You don't want to miss this one! Come see our furry friends compete and meet fellow dog lovers!
Friday October 15, 2010 6pm Airlie Gardens Oyster-Less Roast. This year, due to the impact the oil spill has had on oyster suppliers they will be serving renewable seafood like shrimp and fish. It will still be a GREAT party -- one you'll be talking about for years!
Not enough to keep you busy? Well, you could do what I do. Grab a fishing rod and hit the pier for a little night fishing. Or a chair, good book and your favorite beverage and catch some rays! Be sure to wear your sunscreen!
Come see us, find out for yourself why Everything's better at the beach . . .
