Steve...what a stark picture; looks as if a disease has decimated a section of our great country from Michigan SE to Florida.  Wish we could take a "Vacation" away from reality.  Thanks for the posting.

It gets really dark on the map for the eastern US. :)

Our area of VA is still at less than 5%.  Unskilled/blue color are the hardest hit.  I get rental inquiries and when I check where they are coming from and that they think they can IMMEDIATELY get a job, I advise them to call me when they get a job and have their first paycheck!

Steve - a very sobering and bleak picture. And when you factor in those that have left the job market it is even worse.

Personally, I think government today does not realize it is business, not government, that will pull the country out of the doldrums.

Steve

Government needs to stop wasting tax dollars and step aside and let business lead the economy out of the recession.

Good luck and success.

The unemployment rate for July in Las Vegas was reported at 14.8%. Thanks, Senate Majority Leader Reid.

The free market is a really cool thing.  We've tried everything else... why not that?

Our unemployment seems to resemble the plague...and Steve, those numbers don't even include the self-employed who have are now out of business.

I'm very sorry to say this Steve, but you are wrong.  Unemployment has miraculously stayed at 9.7% for months now.

Now I admit, if the press, et al, defined it now the way they did during the Bush years, it would be almost 20%, but they don't, and it is still 9.7%.

Personally I think this is a miracle and change we can believe in.  You are too negative.

Wallace,

This situtation is sad and even sadder that people are looking to the government to fix it. :)

That's correct - as well as those underemployed. :)

Lane,

The academics running the government don't understand it. :)

Sorry, I can't do that.  You might petition the governor of your state and/or the "president."

That is really disturbing.  This video should be emailed to everyone.  What a wake up call to clean house on Congress.
