Notes, Calls, Popbys and . . .

By

Those of you who work by referral, you know these systems well.  For those of you who don't, let me show you a way to increase your business with very little expense, but with hard work.  First step, is to choose a time to dedicate yourself to each of these systems.

Some agents do this task, writing notes, in the early morning.  If you go to your office early, it's still quiet and you can take time to write your notes.  You can write them to your family, your friends, your vendors, your secretary, your clients, your potential clients, and anyone else that you may have come across during the previous day or week.  I have been writing notes for almost nine years now, with this system.  I have written thank you notes and miss you notes.  Congratulations notes, etc.  However, these notes, written on a consistent basis, will touch your business in a way that will surprise you.  Try it, for a week.  Monday through Friday, each day, write three notes.

note card for keeping in touch

Remember those people that your wrote those notes to?  Okay, now, call them.  Again, you can choose the time of day, or early evening, to do this.  Maybe, the weekend would work better for you.  Call and ask them how they are.  Let them know that you are selling homes and would appreciate their referrals.  They may just know someone who needs a good Realtor or Banker.  You can, also, call after your popby deliveries!

Popbys are just fun!  Agents often struggle with the concept, but, if you get past thinking about it, and just do it, you will be happy with your results.  Choose some addresses of people that you know.  Clients, friends, and/or relatives.  Vendors will work, too!  Plan a day, for the first time out, to deliver your popby gifts.  These are small tokens of appreciation.

They need not be expensive, just thoughtful.  Samples would be; a magnet calendar for next year (stick with me for your real estate needs), a package of forget me not seeds (remember me for your real estate referrals), a highlighter(you brighten up my business).etc.  The more that you do these, the easier that it will become for you,  People love when you come to their home or business with these little gifts!  If they are not there when you arrive, leave the gift.  Then, next week, you can either call or write a note, to ask them if they liked the popby gift:)

Enjoy your business!  Make it fun, for you, your clients and your vendors!

Hi Frances ~ I do like to write notes and there are usually plenty of reasons - home buying anniversaries, birthdays - theirs' or their kids', a house on their street just went on the market, a mention of them in the newspaper, etc.  The newly listed house or condo on their street or in their building is my favorite - when we tour new listings I make a mental note of anything I've sold nearby and then pop a quick note in the mail to my client.

Hand writing personal note is a big help in building a referral based business.

Good luck and success.

Elizabeth,

Try to do three each day, instead of, here and there.  Be intentional and watch the results that you will have.  Thank you for stopping by:)

Susan,

How are you?  I didn't make it to the Philly Turning Point this year.  I have a new Grandson:)  He is a joy!  Maybe, next year and then, we could meet for coffee or lunch:)

Lou,

Thank you for stopping by.

Fran, Great post and good advice.  I am just going through the Buffini courses myself and am learning the tools of the trade.  What a fantastic foundation and simplistic ideas.  The hard task is having the discipline to incorporate them.

Thank you for commenting on my post:)  Yes, it all works, and having the discipline is what causes the success!  Hope to meet you at an event.

Hi Fran,

I like writing my notes in the morning, before I get all involved with a million things!  Sometimes it is challenging to think of new things to say, though!

Debra,

I agree:)  Though, my Coach, finds it hard to beiieve!  Imagine, me, with nothing to say:)  Amazingly, it does happen.  Not too often, but, it does.  If you have a workbook from any of the Buffini Turning Points, Brian has a couple of pages dedicated to "what to say, when writing your notes"  He does think of everything!  LOL!  He even offers, "what to say, when you make your calls".

Hi Frances:-)  That is a great idea to go back to the turning point books to get some fresh ideas.  Thanks for the reminder:-)

Debra,

I keep mine and look back through them on quiet moments:) I often take many notes, when Brian speaks, and even reading those little notes, all over the pages, inspires me!  I call them my blue, gold books!

Fran:)

Fran, that is such a good idea to review the books again.  I am looking forward to b eing inspired twice in the next month or so...turning point and a half day seminar.  It does not even matter how often you have heard the same things, you get more every time!

Debra:-)

Debra,

Brian is really "on fire!"  MasterMind was amazing! I am heading to the Boston Turning Point, in eleven days!  He is teaching his basics, but, adding so much more content!  The Success Seminar was a half day event and I wished it just kept going.  He's in Chicago, now!  Have a great time!

Hi Fran.  I heard Mastermind was very good.  Brian will b e here for the success seminar next Wednesday and turning point in October.  It's great to know that the half day meeting was really good.  Enjoy the Boston event!

I love your photo on the beach...where was it taken?

Debra,

Photo was taken at Mission Beach, San Diego, Ca!  I went a few days early, before MasterMind to spend a few days with my big Brother and his children.  Always a good time.  This was a bike rental, on the beach!  The bike/walking path, is along the beach.  All the way to Sea World!  It was beautiful and relaxing.

Enjoy the Success Seminar!  I, usually attend the Chicago TP, but this year I am heading to Florida to visit family:)  I didn't plan the dates well:(  Really going to miss the event!  Love Chicago!

I'll have to change that summer photo, soon!  Trying to think of what to post there next!  Maybe, a photo from the Boston Turning Point!!
