I recently decided after 10 yrs in the real estate business to get my CRSdesignation.
I had already had my brokers license in another state, but since moving to another state, I just kept the assoc title and didn't have much time to go for the brokers license, still might down the road, but not at the moment. I think the CRS might be a good one to get.
I have 2 more units to complete and then "I am finally finished!" Other than the designation just to have it, I hope and already picked up a few things on the education side that might help understand other aspects of the business. My question is how will it effect my business? What benefits will I achieve and will it increase my client base. Also from what I saw in the first module, the questions on the exam seemed to be answered by common sense and not just looking in the book. I am still a bit confused as to what it will get me and which courses to take.
Love to hear from anyone with the designation

I have the CRS, have had it for a few years now, and it's been a wonderful source of referrals-especially in the smaller markets that aren't serviced by bigger brand names-gives you a way to locate the best of the best in each market. That being said, I am still a little irritated that the requirements to get the designation were lowered so much. It doesn't take very much to get the designation anymore, and as such, it's watering down the quality of the CRS. just my opinion!
I did like CRS 210 and 201/202. 201 and 202 were very similar so dont take them both. One is just on the buyers and the other on the sellers side. 210 was great on business planning. I've been in the business only for 5 years but still got a lot out of the classes.
I am very surprised at the lack of comments i receved on this post, and it has nothing to do with being noticed ,it has to do with expanding your education of this business and experiencing other venues to increase your business and expose your name out there!
Why? well, a number of factors. CRS designees have proven they have actually Sold a fair amount of real estate, just in order to qualify for it. And we who have the Designation know it takes quite a bit of education to earn it. (I personally think we should have to prove transactions and education in order to keep the designation... but that is a different post.)
I am proud that I earned my CRS. My next goal is to start my CCIM work and Broker's license.
I have been really preoccupied and still need to complete this last module..I keep saying I will finish ...but keep getting busy. I need to finish this so I can move on to the GRI next. I hope I develop some referral business later.
