I am staging several new construction homes in the same new neighborhood.  They have similar floor plans and neutral colors.  The problem:  the mantles over the fireplace have a built in spot for the television.  How would you handle the space?   Do I ignore it and stage around it?  If I put a plant/floral arrangement in the space, how will the buyer know the television goes there?  I would love to have a faux television, but have been unable to find a source.

Your comments would be most welcome.

I have to admit, I've never seen a television over a fireplace. Is the area sunken into the wall? If so how far? Is it possible to put in a picture or a painting and accent it with track type lighting? Just a thought.

Just to Clarify.

The trend in my area is to build the entertainment center around the fireplace.  Bookshelves on each side, television has build-in right over the fireplace. At least there is no question as to where the focal point of the room is.

Stacy, I know this is an old post, but have you found your tv prop? I have a couple of sites that have them. Propsbyidm.com/stagers.htm. Hope this helps
