East Sacramento has a treasure of trees that lend themselves to Sacramento's identity as the City of Trees. Many of the classic vintage homes in the area also add to the patina of the community.
A special spot in the midst of all this, is McKinley Park - 31.9 acres that include a pond, large public swimming pool, jogging trails, the Clunie Clubhouse and McKinley Library. The art-deco styled building dates to 1936, and has maintained it original walnut paneling, marble fireplace and Strickley furnishings.
At the East end of the park, the 1.5-acre rose garden, created in 1928, features more than 1,000 rose bushes, tree roses, and blooming annuals. Each year, new award-winning varieties are added to the garden tapestry.
