As most Realtors will know from your own area, every year there will be elections for a new slate of directors for the Local Real Estate Board. The same applies to Victoria BC, each year we elect about 1/2 of the slate to assure continued expertise and experience to remain on the board.
Each director is elected to a 2 year term and will chair at least one committee (most will chair more than one) and the position can get very involving and require substantial time, energy and emotional commitment to our industry and business. Our local board is very much directing and influential in how we as Realtors operate, function and are perceived in our local Victoria Market place.
Our Next Victoria directors election will be in Early October 2010 with nominations closing in September 2010.....
As some of you may know, over the past 24 some years I (Peter) have been very vocal about the business and how I feel our industry can and should do a much better job in assuring top quality performance in servicing our clients and the industry.
From my past involvement and experience with organized real estate I know that it is often much easier to change things by being on the inside, rather than looking on from the outside.
Over the years I have been involved in a number of committees at 2 different real estate boards and have also recruited, trained and coached many agents at various companies as well as for the Provincial Association, in Victoria BC and around British Columbia.
As I am convinced that the future of our industry will see many dramatic changes, I am now very seriously considering to run for Director In Victoria this time.
My question to both our Active Rain Peers as well as others reading this post, would you mind to share your thoughts or comments on running for Director at a Bord level in any way you see fit
Your thoughts, experiences, suggestions and or tips would very much be appreciated.
Thanks as always
