PLEASE PRAY FOR THE RED HAIRED GIRL

I know I haven't posted in awhile, but this past thursday I had an experience that I just can't shake. For four days I have been praying and asking the Lord what He was trying to tell me but in retrospect I think I knew immediately.
I recently took a position as a driver for a laboratory. On any given day I may drive between 250 and 450 miles dropping off bottle orders and reports and picking up sample to be analyzed at the lab. This much time alone on the road gives you alot of time to think, which can be either a good or bad thing depending on what is going on in your life.
I have been pusuing a degree in Biblical Studies in the hope of being able to enter full time ministry, I believe with all my heart that this is what the Lord is calling me to do and I know that each new experience is just His way of preparing me, but there are times the road to accomplishing this seems endless. Lately a series of financial, physical and emotional occurrences had been taking its toll.
The other day I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic when up ahead high on the embankment underneath a bridge I say this young redheaded women sitting on a couch. On a sunny 95 degree day you see many people outside especially in the cities and at first I thought nothing about it rather than it was a strange place to be hanging out. As I neared the overpass I realized that there were clusters of clothes and personal belongings scattered up and down the embankment on both sides of the highway and I realized that what I was witnessing was a homeless colony. From the looks of things there were probably dozens of people who slept here each evening," But she just didn't look like a homeless person".
As I came closer the next minute of my life was one that will be burned into my mind forever. At first I wondered why this attractive young women was not only staying in a homeless colony, she seemed to have the most choice position. I doubt she was a newcomer. Secondly I was frightened for her, as she sat there just staring out over the highway, rats the size of small dogs skittered past her feet and she didn't even budge.I was frightened to be 100 feet away in the car and she didn't even notice them. Then we made eye contact. I will be praying for this girl for the rest of my life. She may have been 19 or 45, she was beautiful yet frightening, I wanted to get away as fast as I could but all day felt that I should have just found someplace to pull over so I could help her. I don't know what I could have done but I felt so "lacking".
So yes, I do know what the Lord was telling me. He does have plans for me, He knows I want to make a difference, He's just not finished preparing me yet. So I'll keep on trusting, but I'd like to ask all or you,"Please" PRAY FOR THE RED HAIRED GIRL.

Who do you think this girl is Hugh? Did you think it was something you must do but failed to do, or was it just that you feel for the homeless in your community and praying for the answer?

It is so sad, and yet this is part of everyday life that we often do not see.  Sometimes we must be truly grateful for the blessings that God has bestowed upon us, and yes...we must remember these people, pray that they be showered with Gods graces and blessings, and assist if we are able.  I will remember her in my thoughts and prayers.  Thank you and God Bless you for sharing this.

The homeless situation does pull on the heart strings. I have worked with different homeless organizations over the years and each one have asked to us to prayer for the homeless, help the ones who want help; but, realize many do not want our help.  You are in my prayers as are they.

It's not up to us.  God is able to change lives.  Will you be driving past this location again?

Unfortunately we have lots of homeless people here in CA.  Very sad.

Hugh, Maybe she was waiting for someone.  Sometimes it's worse for all to intervene.  If you were meant to help, you would have be given the opportunity.  God bless,

Hugh, I have found in my life that sometimes I am put in place to help facilitate the help. I am not the real help, as that comes from within the person themselves their ability to want it and accept it. If you are going back over this, over and over in your mind, have you sat down and asked for guidance? Maybe you are to go back, but maybe you were just to give some of us here a wake up to pay attention. You will know in your heart what is right.

Hugh - help me understand why God himself wouldn't do something for the red-haired girl instead of waiting for a bunch of people to pray for her or wait until you got yourself enough together to help her? I just don't get it. I doubt that any of the original disciples were 100% prepared when they entered the ministry, so what the heck are YOU waiting for? Get out there and help, and leave your computer praying friends to their keyboards!

Curt the disciples had Jesus as a personal mentor. I do get out and help as much as possible. Come and watch me preaching at a bus stop in Hunts P_oint some saturday. Yet I know my limitations and the can be frustration. I am currently studing christian counseling so as to be more help to those who need it. I tend to flock towards the ministries others don't want.

You must forgive me but I can't tell if you are just being a smartass or if you have real issues. If it is the latter feel free to call me if you like 201 317-8069. On the other hand if you are just trying to antagonize, God Bless You and have a pleasant day
