Is it the rain or the Mortgage Industry?

By
Real Estate Agent with Nazareth,Easton, Bethlehem - Prudential Patt, White

We have noticed a drastic drop in showings this week. I don't know if I should attribute the drop to the rain we have been having or the lending industry? Going from about 10-12 showings a week to 3 this week on our 5 listings seems like a major drop. How about others out there are you finding a drop in showings this week? What do you think weather or news media?

Thanks!

School is just started here today in Virginia and most people are settled in. So we are seeing showings drop also. The media is not helping us either!

Dead, dead, dead.  I'm sorry to say it.  Our Bradenton - Sarasota, Florida market is suffering.

August market is typically slow here in NJ.  Hope that is what it is.   Of course you can always "Blame it on the rain"  as the song goes.

It is sunny in California and August is typically a great month. Closings are off by more than 50% of last year. A large percentage of current closings are REO properties. Our mid market ( The bulk of our markets) is all but gone and the most effected by the current opportunities in the mortgage market. The good news is....the demand is still there and will continue to back up. Back up on a very large scale. Great news for those that hang in there. For now though............................?

Things are moving a a steady pace here in So. New Hampshire.  The weather has been a little cooler than normal -however, I would say the market remains a bit slow, but still moving.  It doesn't seem to be as slow as other parts of the country.

Our showings are down a lot here too.  School started back about two weeks ago so that usually slows it down anyway.  On top of it being in the middle of a drought it is also usually over 100 degrees when most people usually want to look at houses that combination is not helping!
