I feel sometimes as if I am hitting my head against an immovable object.
I think it is my job to learn the new technology before I pass it along to our clients and implement it on our side. Here is an example: I started Blogging a couple of years ago, the learning curve was quite incredible. Now I can blog in my sleep, I'm running a few self hosted blogs, Active Rain, Trulia, Realtor.com - and I do my best to keep them updated every day. I would rather do it myself - so I know it is getting done correctly - but it is very time consuming.
Moving along to inserting pictures - I had to learn that as well, now I can insert, create effects, change Photo URL's and title photos. I can even move them around so the text wraps around the photo on the right or left side. More Learning.
I started to implement video on my blogs and started to send video email to all of my First Contacts with People. Eyejot was the resource of choice and You Tube was where I was uploading my video's. I had to learn the capabilities of Eyejot, how to upload HD video - how to talk on camera without sounding like a moron (Still learning that :-), I needed to find other resources that would me upload the same video to multiple sites with the push of one button. Learning Still... Editing is next...
I feel as if I am still behind - but the Google Results don't lie. That is when I was listening to an Audio Tape on Self Improvement, Sales and Marketing when the reader told the tale of the two woodcutters. (BTW, I listen to over 12 hours a week of Audio Books, my Favorites, Chet Holmes, Jeffrey Gitomer, Napoleon Hill, Gary Keller, Dale Carnegie and Russell H. Conwell)
There were two woodcutters in a forest - Each given the same task, to cut down as many tree's as they could in a single full day's work.
At the end of 8 Hours - Wood Cutter #2 had cut three times as much wood as Wood Cutter #1.
Woodcutter #1 was totally upset and beside himself. He Screamed, "That is impossible, I was working all day, never taking a break, you were taking Break's very often throughout the day..."
Woodcutter #2, very calmly stated, "I wasn't taking Break's - I was merely stopping to sharpen my saw..."
Now, get out there and "Sharpen your Saw!!!!"
