One of my favorite Motown songs ... (Yes, I grew up in Detroit) ... is Tina Turner's "What's Love got to do with It". I love the way she screams this out as she is trying to reason with herself. As with a typical real estate decision, once all the facts have been considered like size, price, location, the final call is often emotionally driven. How does the home make you feel?
- Can you imagine making this house your home?
- Does it exhaust you to think of the renovations?
- Does it feel welcoming when you walk through the door?
- Would you feel comfortable inviting your friends here?
It is really important that home sellers understand this concept. As I start to work with clients that are getting ready to sell their home, one of the best services I can provide is to help them walk in the shoes of a Cary home buyer. It helps them remove themselves from the attachment of their "home", and view it as a "house" from the eyes of a buyer.... in this buyer's market, it will be one of many houses to choose from! Helping clients develop an objective view of their home will assist them in staging it to sell. A well staged, priced and presented home will sell more quickly for a higher price, than one that is not ready to embrace the mindset of today's buyer.
