Taking Care of Animals that Need our Help - between Denver and Boulder

By
Real Estate Agent with The DiGiorgio Group

I write a monthly newsletter, and encourage my readers to give me input. One reader mentioned that she is involved with a local no kill animal shelter called Max Fund,  so I asked her to write up something on it.

I hope you enjoy the charming format, and maybe even take a minute to give Max Fund a few bucks!

Max Fund no kill animal shelter Denver COMaxFund, a true non-profit, no kill animal shelter.

Wow!  You are probably wondering what this is all about.  Well, my name is Gizmo and I am a former recipient of what MaxFund is all about.  A kind person found my brothers and sisters in an alley in downtown Denver, we were about 4 weeks old, and brought us to MaxFund where they cared for us until we could find our forever families.

Because of my experience I have been given the opportunity to tell you about the MaxFund currently located at 1025 Galapago Street, in Denver.  It was started in 1988 by Dr. Bill Suro, a veterinarian, and his wife Nanci when they took on a dog that needed several surgeries and long term rehabilitation.  They let their friends, other vets, staff and pet lovers know about the situation and started a fund to get this loving dog back on his feet.

You guessed it I am sure, his name was Max and thus MaxFund began.

MaxFund takes in and nurtures any animal with no known owner. Some have been physically injured, have lost their owners or been born in the alleys and streets and rescued.  After these animals have recovered physically and emotionally the MaxFund works to find forever homes for them.

This shelter receives no State or local funding and relies solely on donations.  They are very frugal with the funds they receive and have been awarded 4 Stars by Charity Navigator (they grade charities on how much of the money raised actually goes to providing the services they were set up for). Max Fund no kill animal shelter Denver CO

They have been able to grow the facility and also maintain a Mobile Adoption Van to make it easier for everyone to have the opportunity to adopt a wonderful 4 legged family member.

If you enjoy a night out you might want to join us for our big fund raiser called “Puttin’ On The Max” with dinner, entertainment, a silent auction and great prizes, on Saturday, October 16th.  Look on the MaxFund home page for more details.

Thank you for reading about MaxFund and I hope when you decide to add a 4 legged family member you will look there instead of buying one from a store.
