Annexation applications under review vary from small to historically large parcels in various parts of Cherokee County.

A revised application has been filed for a proposed Ball Ground Georgia Real Estate annexation of 1,011 acres of the Cherry Grove area east of the Ball Ground's boundary.

A separate petition for the annexation of a 90-acre tract surrounded by the large Cherry Grove tract was recently filed.

The proposed annexation of the Cherry Grove tracts was made possible by the annexation of a nearly 506-acre tract owned by Forestar Real Estate Group by the Ball Ground City Council earlier in August 2007. The timberland property borders The Preserve at Long Swamp and Mountain Brooke subdivisions.
