Being that I was a 17 year regular with the LAPD and a current Reserve, I have seen my fair share of "good deals".  In fact, it seems that every time someone was telling me that I was special and was getting the best deal in the world - I was taken as sure as the sun is hot!!!

It has reared it's ugly head again, this time with two Detectives with the LAPD - a Husband and Wife Team - were almost taken being teased with a $500.00 rebate to use a specific "special program for law enforcement" lender.

Lending is not my business - however, when the lender is charging 3% up front for origination and not changing the rate, which was 1% over what everyone else was getting (taking everything into consideration - apples to apples) - and promising $500.00 back as a special deal - I could not hold my tongue.

BTW - the cost of the home was 417K and they were 20% down - it was not a mobile home (nothing against mobile homes...)
