EDIT: 8/26: Yikes I misspelled the name -- just corrected it in the post title.
Gabrielle.....wow what a beautiful home.....I've seen many woodframe homes with turrets and they are beautiful....
A man's house is his castler, eh? Oh, and the tiered lawn? I'm not mowing it, LOL.
Lori: No kidding! We were lucky enough to be there after hours and got to walk around (outside) all by ourselves. My son figured he'd lay claim!
Tim: Hopefully they're all gas. Can you imagine splitting the wood to keep this place warm!?
Barbara: Isn't this gorgeous! We weren't able to go inside, but the outside was simply breathtaking!
Juli: Yeah ... me neither. Not even on my rider ...
Striking and beautiful facade. I can imagine the opulance in its hayday on the inside.

Gabrielle, this place is gorgeous. I would love to know the history on the home.
Sue: I'm hoping to visit the inside next time we make it up to the Island!
Bruce: Yep. He was all set to move in.
Connie: Me neither. But then again, if one could afford this place, you just know it'd come with staff ...
Diane: I've attached a snapshot of the placard that was on the grounds along with a couple additional photos of the castle itself. Also, for more info, visit the Craigdarroch Castle site where there are some gorgeous photos of the inside too.
Gabrielle,
Not a bad little weekend retreat. Love the black and white shot you added in your comments. Great architecture. :)

Beautiful additional pictures. For the first one did you use a wide angle and than crop it? Sorry for the silly question but I have a Nikon D3000 that I'm trying to learn how to put to good use. It's a big step up from my Kodak V-570 point and shoot and I'm not understanding how to get the wide angle, but, bring the picture close up like you did.
Ah, it is so great to be able to be always learning.

Sue: You're not going to believe this, but these were taken with my absolutely old favorite Sony about 5 years ago. Not "quite" a point and shoot, but almost. That camera took incredible photos. Not wide angle, not anything fancy at all. Although it's been a long time, I would suspect that I went waaay to the end of the lawn and then zoomed in to frame the shot. It's not been edited at all.
Unfortunately, that camera has now gone to camera heaven -- the swivel lens parted itself totally from the body and I couldn't get it fixed. I'm working on taking photos like this with my Panasonic Lumix wide angle.
Hi Gabrielle and thanks for the explanation. The Panasonic Lumix is supposed to be great. Don't you just hate it when a "favorite great one" dies!
