Exploring the Go Green Movement
What fun to join others on Active Rain in a 30 day challenge to blog each day, to improve our skills and learn more about how we can help others. I've been researching and writing about ... going green, so I decided it would be fun to see what happens when I blog about a single topic for 30 days.
Going Green
Renewable - are those resources that can be replenished using renewable processes. The process of growing corn is renewable because you can grow a crop, harvest it and grow another crop in the same place. Mining coal or drilling for oil are not renewable processes, as they can't be repeated.
Sustainable –are things you can keep doing for a long time, like decades, generations and century after century. Examples of sustainable resources are solar panels on the roof of a home and wind turbines. No matter how much we capture today, we won't affect how much is available tomorrow. Sustainable processes can't use non-renewable resources like fossil fuel, water or the mineral rich top-soil needed to grow crops.
This organic garden is renewable, not sustainable, as it is using water and some of the natural chemicals in the top soil.
